Since having endured a run of five consecutive losses to open the season in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, SC Farense will be in search of an important three points against Arouca at their own stomping ground come Sunday.

The Arouquenses will arrive at the Estadio de Sao Luis without having achieved a victory in any of their previous five away games since thrashing Braga at the April 6 3-0, so they will be anxiously awaiting the weekend with the desire to put an end to this run of consecutive defeats.

Farense was left without any prize again after been defeated by Porto 2-1 during their match at the Estadio do Dragao last sunday.

After an uneventful first half without even a shot on target the second period was far from dull and Wanderson Galenon and Tomane shared goals within six minutes of the start of the second half before Samuel Omorodion again scored a goal in the 75th minute to hand Porto the full spoils.

Jose Mota men have 5 straight league losses to begin the new season and are now winless in their last seven league games, a streak that has seen them claim only one victory, 3-2 over Estoril Praia on the 5 th of May.

After finishing the previous campaign in the fifth place overall, the Leoes de Faro have been struggling to gain momentum for the current season due to their poor defensive activity on the field as they have already conceded 12 goals this season, three of them more than any other team in the league.

The next match up for Farense is the daunting task of facing a team that has been fairly successful in their last five matches, the team has only lost one match but recorded wins and draws in the other matches since October of 2018.

As with this weekend’s hosts Arouca, it was more of the same in terms of results in the new campaign with the team suffering a 3-0 loss to Sporting Lisbon in the Estadio Municipal de Arouca.

The front three of Pedro Goncalves, Francisco Trincao, and Viktor Gyokeres put the home squad to the sword, each finding the back of the net to finish an excellent team performance.

Gonzalo Garcia's team has already lost all but one of their first five games this season, surrendering eight goals and scored only two, with the exception of a 1-0 win against newly promoted Nacional on August 25.

While Arouca will be seeking to get back on track this weekend, they will need to be at their best at the Estadio de Sao Luis, having lost three and drawn two of their past five Primeira Liga away games since April's 3-0 success over Braga.

Farense will be without 21-year-old Kaique Pereira this weekend due to a forearm injury sustained in July.

He is joined on the Leoes de Faro injured list by Brazilian goalkeeper Luiz Felipe, who has been sidelined since February due to a serious injury.

Arouca's defense combo of Nino Galovic and 28-year-old Quaresma Correia, who are presently recovering from knee and muscular problems, will be unavailable.

Jose Fontan, who joined Arouquenses from Celta Vigo in the summer, adds to the club's defensive woes after being hurt against Sporting Lisbon the previous game.
