The home team is heavily favored, yet after considering various factors, this preview doesn't find strong reasons to support them. Consequently, choosing a draw at higher odds feels uneasy. The low odds for FC Porto make them an unfavorable bet. While CDC Montalegre doesn't appear likely to secure a win, they could present some resistance.

It wouldn't be surprising if one of the teams aims to play defensively, especially considering FC Porto's dominance. However, the "Both Teams To Score" option holds value, more so than the odds suggest. Additionally, for those considering the goal line, betting "Under 2.5" goals seems plausible given the odds provided.

CDC Montalegre has drawn in 5 of their last 12 matches, indicating their potential to prevent FC Porto from securing a victory, hence favoring another draw. Porto's standout performances have primarily come in European fixtures, notably winning 3-1 against Shakhtar Donetsk and 4-1 against Antwerp. A draw against Shakhtar on matchday six will secure their spot in the knockout rounds.

Meanwhile, Montalegre has different aspirations, focusing on a swift return to the third tier. An unlikely victory against Porto would mark just the second time they've reached the last 16.

In a prior match against Benfica, Montalegre faced a tough opponent but managed an impressive showing, conceding only one goal in a 1-0 defeat, exiting the campaign with pride intact.

This upcoming fixture against Porto will be Montalegre's fourth in the competition. Previously, they triumphed against Mondinense, Peniche (after playing 50 minutes with 10 men and winning on penalties), and Pevidem. Facing Porto marks their first encounter against a team above the fourth tier this season in the competition.

Under new manager Tony, Montalegre is performing well in Group A of the Campeonato de Portugal, currently positioned third, offering hope for a rebound after last year's relegation from Liga 3.
