PSV Eindhoven welcomes Heracles to the Philips Stadion on Friday with the goal of extending their league winning streak to 22 games and solidifying their commanding lead atop the Eredivisie standings.

The Boeren, who have yet to lose in the Dutch top division this season, are now 10 points ahead of second place in the standings, while their opponents, who secured a crucial victory last time out, kept a slim advantage over the relegation zone.In their attempt to win the Eredivisie title again for the first time since 2018, PSV Eindhoven is in the midst of an incredible season. They have amassed a commanding lead after going 21 games without a loss.

The Boeren have really only lost two of those games, and those losses occurred in their last four games after they had won all 17 of their previous games, surrendering just seven goals and scoring 59 goals.

After recovering with a 2-0 victory over Almere City, their winning run to start the title defense was ultimately cut short in a 1-1 draw away at Utrecht in mid-January. They were then held away from home against rivals Ajax at the start of the month, with Luuk de Jong tying the score in the first half following Steven Bergwijn's early goal.

Peter Bosz's team traveled to struggling Volendam on Sunday in an attempt to get back to winning ways after suffering a slight setback. They came back strong, winning 5-1 and adding goals from Ismael Saibari, Jerdy Schouten, Jordan Teze, Ricardo Pepi, and Isaac Babadi. The hosts had taken the lead in the first minute thanks to an own goal from Teze.

PSV Eindhoven will attempt to make it back-to-back Eredivisie victories on Friday and further extend their cushion heading into the final months of the title race with just 39 points left to fight for. With 19 wins, 59 points, and 68 goals on the board in 21 games, they are off to a great start to the campaign and should be feeling confident given the two recent draws are the only blemishes.

Opposing them is a Heracles team that is also aiming for a win in their crucial battle at the opposite end of the division, having just gained a slim advantage over the Eredivisie's relegation zone.

The visitors, who were hoping to stay in the top division after earning promotion the previous season, found themselves in a precarious situation at the beginning of the year following a miserable nine-game run that left them with only 15 points from 16 games.

But since starting games again in mid-January, John Lammers's team has made some progress. In the last five games, they have added seven more points to their total. Firstly, they defeated RKC Waalwijk 2-1 on the road to snap a three-match losing streak.Following a draw with Volendam, the Heraclieden lost back-to-back games against Ajax and NEC. However, on Saturday, they hosted Vitesse and overcame a 2-0 deficit to win the match despite playing with ten men thanks to goals from Jordy Bruijn and a brace from Jizz Hornkamp in the second half.

Heracles now sit in 14th place, four points ahead of RKC Waalwijk in the relegation playoff spot and ten ahead of the automatic drop zone as a result of that performance and their recent upswing. They will now look to extend their lead and become the first team to defeat PSV Eindhoven in the league this year.
