Bayern Munich stands ready to reduce the points gap to 13 while claiming the Bundesliga title after meeting Augsburg at WWK Arena on Friday.

On matchday 29 Augsburg remained in eighth position with 39 points from their share of points with Hoffenheim yet Bayern Munich lead with 65 points which exceeds second-placed Bayer Leverkusen by six points after seven remaining matchweeks.

The home team generated minimal scoring threats against Hoffenheim by only registering a single target after 45 minutes and two big scoring chances for their team during the entire match.

Only 30 times throughout the season has Augsburg scored in the Bundesliga which represents the fourth-least scoring team while they produced four consecutive scoreless games.

The sides led by manager Jess Thorup have suffered five consecutive losses against Bayern who posted three or more goals during each game since their November 22 matchup.

The Fuggerstadter have maintained an impressive defensive performance since August as they played eleven matches undefeated along with six victories and eight shutouts so far.

The home games of Augsburg have been successful this season because they have triumphed seven times at WWK Arena by losing only three of their 14 matches there.

The visitors secured a 3-2 victory in their recent match against St Pauli last Saturday even though their chances outweighed their opponents by 7 to 1.

Vincent Kompany will be worried about his team’s recent defensive struggles, having let in six goals in their last three league games and failing to keep a clean sheet in their past four Bundesliga matches.

Despite these concerns, the league leaders have been formidable in attack, scoring three or more goals in 17 of their 27 league games this season. Their total of 78 goals is at least 16 more than any other team in the division.

While Bayern remain strong favorites to win the title, they can’t afford to become complacent, with tough fixtures ahead against fourth-placed Mainz 05, fifth-placed Borussia Mönchengladbach, sixth-placed RB Leipzig, and arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund.

Kompany’s men head into Friday’s match in solid form, with 10 wins in their last 14 games and just one defeat. However, their recent Bundesliga record shows two draws and a loss in their last six outings.

Their away form has also been inconsistent—in their last 11 road games, they’ve drawn three times and suffered two defeats, proving they can be vulnerable outside their home ground.
