The bottom dwellers, New Orleans Pelicans will be up against the mighty Boston Celtics at the latter’s home, TD Garden, at the wee hours of Monday.

The Celts (27/11) are improved in the Eastern Conference right behind the Cavaliers, while the Pels are among the worst teams in Western Conference currently.

The Boston Celtics team has in recent games been below what the fans have to expect lately and are currently with five and five over the last ten matches after the 114-97 loss against the Sacramento Kings at home on saturday.

Jalen Brown scored 28 points with five assists, Kristaps Porzingis chipped 20 points and 10 assists, Jayson Tatum scored 15 points with 12 rebounds but the rest of the team failed to score in double-digits.

The champs made mistakes that resulted into opposition having as many as 18 more field goal attempts for the game, and the kings sealed this victory in the last quarter when they outplayed the c’s with thirty-eight to twenty-one.

After the game, Joe Mazzulla admitted that the poor offence forced the defense to work hard and stated that he did not expect the team to give up effort because it is a solvable short-term issue.

Still, the Celtics are a top-10 team in both offences and defense this season, scoring an average of 117.9 PPG, placing them fifth while conceding an average of 108.4 PPG on the other side ranking them sixth in the league.

On the other hand the Pelicans have been the worst team in the west so far having only eight wins in thirty nine this season but, this could be a thing of the past after defeating the Philadelphia 76ers 123-115 on the road on Friday.

Jordan Hawkins contributed 21 points and two assists, CJ McCollum scored 38 points and dished out three assists, while the New Orleans bench scored an incredible 36 points.

After being late for the team's flight to Philadelphia, Zion Williamson, who had just returned to the floor after an injury hiatus earlier this week, was suspended for the game against the Sixers for breaking team rules.

With just seven appearances this season and a 44.6% game participation rate in his sixth NBA season, there are a lot of rumors that Williamson and the Pels are about to part ways.

Before the Celtics' defeat by the Kings, Derrick White was labeled as an injury doubt. However, the guard was cleared to play before kickoff, played 27 minutes, and should be ready to start on Monday.

Drew Peterson was out with a concussion, Baylor Scheierman is on G League assignment, and Jordan Walsh was forced to miss the most recent game due to sickness. It is improbable that any of the three will play against the Pelicans.

Williamson's ban was only for one game, so he can play again for the trip to Boston. However, it will be fascinating to see whether Willie Green decides to reinstate him.

Herb Jones was diagnosed with a posterior labrum rupture in his right shoulder last week, dealing the Pels yet another injury setback that will keep him out of action for some time to come. With an average of just 107.4 points per game, New Orleans is presently ranked 27th in the scoring standings. On the defensive end, they are ranked 25th, giving up 117.1 points per game thus far.
