An incoherent Bournemouth team faces Brentford, who have found their winning formula in Premier League away games, and may see their ambitions of winning the Champions League completely dashed.

The Bees' home problems continued with a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Aston Villa, while the Cherries blew a two-goal lead in last weekend's 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

In addition to being in the throes of the FA Cup after making it to the quarterfinals, Bournemouth was headed for Premier League redemption when Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson gave the Cherries a two-goal lead at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

But after a goal from Pape Sarr and a penalty from Son Heung-min, Andoni Iraola's team lost two more points in the fierce battle for Champions League football. They have slipped behind in a dismal three-match losing streak.

Bournemouth has dropped to ninth position in the Premier League standings after only grabbing one of the nine available points during that period. However, because the top half is so crowded, Iraola's team is still just five points behind Chelsea in fourth place.

Naturally, a high UEFA coefficient might potentially result in fifth-place UCL football the following season, but the Cherries are no longer the formidable force they once were; they have already dropped three of their previous five games after playing 11 games without losing in the top flight from November 30 to January 25.

The European trip will undoubtedly have to be postponed for Saturday's visitors as well, as Bournemouth is struggling to showcase its continental credentials. They are now eight points behind Brighton & Hove Albion in seventh place and have dropped to 12th place in the standings.

Only Southampton, Ipswich Town, and Leicester City—the league's bottom three teams—have collected fewer points than Bournemouth’s four since February began. Now, the hosts risk setting an unwanted club record by losing three consecutive Premier League home matches without scoring for the first time in their history.

Bournemouth’s hopes of avoiding that dubious milestone are further challenged by Brentford’s recent resurgence in away games. However, the Bees' strong performances on the road have come at the expense of their home form at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Once one of the toughest teams to beat at home, Thomas Frank’s side are now winless in their last eight matches on their own turf. Their struggles continued last week with a defeat to Aston Villa, where former Brentford striker Ollie Watkins netted the decisive goal.
