With the Championship title race in mind, Burnley will face bottom half struggling Derby County at home in Turf Moor for matchday 20 of the 2024 – 2025 season Tuesday evening.

The hosts are in the third place with 37 points gained from 19 games, while the visitors in the sixteenth position, having 20 points after 19 games.

Specifically, failed to survived the English Premier League last season on the previous year, Burnley looked to this particular season as the means through which to regain promotion for the team to the English Premier League.

They launched the campaign in strong fashion with a 4-1 thrashing of fellow relegated Luton Town and a 5-0 walloping of Cardiff City only to be checked by a disappointing loss to Sunderland.

They only recorded four wins, five draws in the subsequent nine league matches, and the high incidence of draws was to be a problem in their early part of the season and no side positioned in the top seven teams registered more than their seven draws during the season.

They then suffered a 1-0 defeat to Millwall but have immediately responded with two draws and four wins in their last six matches so are in a decent run of form coming into this one.

Those results put Burnley third in the Championship this season with 37 points after 19 matches, 10W-7D-2L, one point behind the top two.

Parker, who has been in charge since July 2024, will now be hoping to lead his team back to victory after the game ended in a 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough last time around, whereas, the Burnley will go into this game with a great deal of confidence because they dominated Derby at their own turf the last season by winning six out of seven games.

Derby achieved promotion back to the Championship for the first time since their relegation in the 2021-22 season after finishing second in League One last year, alongside Portsmouth and Oxford United.

Derby, who hoped to stay in the second division this season, had a solid start to the season, winning three of their first five league games while losing to Blackburn Rovers and Watford.
