AC Milan, who are currently eight points out of first place in Serie A, will want to go back to winning ways when they visit Stadio Benito Stirpe in Frosinone on Saturday.

After their most recent 2-2 tie with Bologna, Milan is now outside of Italy's top two, but their hosts are more focused on stopping a steady decline in the standings.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek scored his second and third goals in two games last week, but he was unable to celebrate his victory because Milan missed two penalties, which allowed Bologna to grab a point from San Siro.

As recent recruit Filippo Terracciano conceded a stoppage-time penalty, which Riccardo Orsolini duly scored, City rivals Inter Milan surged farther ahead at the top of Serie A. Once again, the Rossoneri let struggling opponents off the hook.

Milan's failure to hold onto an advantage has seen them fall behind Inter and Juventus, who are undoubtedly going to battle it out for the Scudetto. Of the 25 goals allowed in the league this season, 17 have come in the second half compared to only eight before the interval.

Although Stefano Pioli's team has been unbeaten in the league for almost two months and still has one of the greatest home records in Serie A, they are less dependable away from home. At the moment, they are 10 points ahead of fourth place.

Although Milan has defeated Empoli and Udinese in their last two away games, they will try to win three straight away games on Saturday for the first time since late 2022.

The titans of the second city will play against teams they have never lost to in the Italian top division. They also score more than two goals per game against Frosinone, who they crushed 3-1 in the rematch in December.

Frosinone continued to defy expectations after returning to Serie A, winning just three of their four games in all competitions before to their trip to Milan.

A few weeks later, though, a run of five straight losses was just recently snapped with a win and a draw, respectively, against struggling Cagliari and Hellas Verona.

Last week, Eusebio Di Francesco played his old team at Stadio Bentegodi as the Canarini faced Verona. Kaio Jorge equalized the score in the second half to secure a 1-1 draw after Kaio Jorge scored a late goal against Cagliari at home.

Despite not being able to secure an elusive away win, Frosinone will now visit Stadio Stirpe, where they have amassed 20 points from 11 games, which is more than they had at this time in their last two Serie A campaigns combined.

The Serie B champions from last season are still distant from extending their stay in the top flight, especially with games against Milan, Fiorentina, Roma, and Juventus scheduled for February. They have just a five-point buffer to the relegation zone.

Ismael Bennacer, who suffered a muscular injury during the Africa Cup of Nations, is fully recovered, but Yacine Adli should be back with Tijjani Reijnders in Milan's engine room this weekend.

In center defense, Matteo Gabbia is also expected to remain, as Marco Pellegrino recently joined Salernitana on loan and Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw, and Pierre Kalulu are all sidelined.

The front line for the Rossoneri is led by Olivier Giroud, who is backed up by Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Rafael Leao. Loftus-Cheek leads the team in goals scored in Serie A this season with five; only in 2018–19 did the Englishman record six goals in a league campaign.
