In their Thursday Euro 2024 qualifying match against Slovenia at Stozice Stadium, Northern Ireland will look to snap a three-game losing streak.

The Green and White Army, who have won only one of their four games, are currently second to worst in Group H, four points behind the Slovenians.Slovenia had a successful start to their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign, winning back-to-back games against Kazakhstan and San Marino, but Matjaz Kek's team has since only been able to collect one point out of a potential six.

Slovenia pulled out a 1-1 draw with Denmark in their previous game despite making just two efforts on goal and having just 37% of the ball on home turf after losing 2-0 to Finland in June.

The Slovenians are now fourth in Group H, tied with third-placed Denmark on points, and two points behind Finland and Kazakhstan, both of which have already qualified for the next round.

Slovenia has only ever participated in one European Championship, at Euro 2000 in the Netherlands and Belgium. The former Yugoslavia has missed out on all five of the competition's prior iterations.

After losing 2-0 to Finland in June, Slovenia managed to draw 1-1 with Denmark in their previous match despite only making two shots on goal and controlling the ball for 37% of the time.

Slovenia is currently in fourth place in Group H, level for third place on points with Denmark, and two points behind Finland and Kazakhstan, both of which have advanced to the next round.

The only European Championship in which Slovenia has ever competed was Euro 2000 in the Netherlands and Belgium. All five previous competitions have not included the former Yugoslavia.

However, Kek's team has only lost once in their previous 10 games overall, winning five and drawing four, so they are certain they can qualify for the competition in Germany next summer.

Meanwhile, Northern Ireland began their qualification campaign with a straightforward 2-0 success over San Marino thanks to a brace from forward Dion Charles of Bolton Wanderers, but things have since gone south.

Michael O'Neill's team enters its sixth qualifying match after suffering three straight 1-0 losses to Finland, Denmark, and Kazakhstan without scoring a goal.

After four games, the Green and White Army are second from last in Group H, which means that Northern Ireland is already six points behind Finland and Kazakhstan, who are tied for first place.

In 2016, Northern Ireland earned a spot in their first-ever European Championship, but they were unable to secure a spot in Euro 2020, earning just 13 of a potential 24 points before losing to Slovakia in the playoffs.

O'Neill's team has lost seven of their previous 11 games in addition to each of their last three contests, so if they hope to win their second European Championship, they must swiftly turn things around.
