This weekend, all eyes in the Primeira Liga will be on the massive clash between Sporting Lisbon and Porto at Estadio Jose Alvalade on Saturday night.

Both of these title rivals have had a perfect start to the season, each winning all three of their matches so far, so one of their flawless records is about to be broken.

Sporting has been in dominant form as they defend their title, winning all three games with an impressive 12 goals scored and only one conceded.

Their 4-1 victory over Nacional last weekend was a strong performance, though maybe not as easy as the scoreline suggests, especially compared to their previous 6-0 thrashing of Arouca.

It was a tough start for Rui Borges's team against Nacional, as they went down just three minutes into the game. They didn't really get going until eight minutes after halftime, even though they had a player advantage after Pablo Ruan was red-carded in the 37th minute.

Now, Sporting faces a huge test against Porto, who are right on their heels in the standings, with only goal difference separating the two sides. Sporting will be looking to use their home advantage to grab three points and cement their spot at the top.

History is on the Lions' side, as they've gone unbeaten in their last seven matches against Porto across all competitions and have won their last two home league games against them.

Adding to their confidence is their incredible home record at Jose Alvalade, where they've won six of their last seven Primeira Liga matches, making the stadium a real fortress.

Meanwhile, under head coach Francesco Farioli, Porto has continued their strong form from the last season, winning six league games in a row.

After finishing in a disappointing third place last season, the Dragons have come roaring out of the gates with victories over Vitoria de Guimaraes (3-0), Gil Vicente (2-0), and a ruthless 4-0 dismantling of Casa Pia last weekend.

Their success is built on a rock-solid defense, which is one of only three in the league yet to concede a single goal, and explosive starts to their games. They've been ahead at halftime in all three of their matches, including racing to a three-goal lead before the break last time out before Borja Sainz sealed the deal with his second goal of the game.

Despite their great form, Porto will be cautious going into this match, especially since they lost all three of their away games against last season's top four. Even a draw against the reigning champions would feel like a big win for them.

As for team news, Sporting's Ousmane Diomande is a doubt, so Goncalo Inacio and Zeno Debast are expected to be the central defenders again, just as they were in the last two matches.

Matheus Reis is back from a long suspension, but Borges will likely stick with Ricardo Mangas, who has been excellent at left-back.

Pedro Goncalves was the star of the show last weekend with a hat-trick and will be looking to carry that great form into this game.

However, Sporting will be without Daniel Braganca, Nuno Santos, and Maximiliano Araujo, who are all still recovering from injuries.

Porto also has some injury concerns, with Martim Fernandez sidelined and both Pepe and Samu Omorodion remaining doubtful.

This means William Gomes could keep his place on the wing after scoring last time out, while Luuk de Jong will once again lead the attack as he looks to score his first goal for the club.

Sainz, fresh off his two goals against Casa Pia, should also keep his spot out wide, and new signing Pablo Rosario, who joined midweek, might make his debut from the bench.
